I’m excited to announce my first solo evening performance as part of Chez Bushwick’s Recess Series!
My work, “Immortal Jellyfish” is a chaotic dance-theater specimen inspired by the lifecycle of the Turritopsis dohrnii, a jellyfish able to revert to previous life stages in the face of age and trauma. Incorporating live (and dead) dance, music, stories, calligraphy, and Stuff, it explores regression as defense, transition as survival, and ideological stagnation as death in a world where ongoing relevance is immortality.
This piece was created through the Leimay Foundation Incubator Program in collaboration with musician Alia Scheirman. The first iteration of the work was presented at the 2022 New York Arab Festival.
